Dr. Soong makes a comment to Archer that "this crew needs a sense of humor." This is a nod to Brent Spiner's character Data from The Next Generation, whom, for the entire 7 year run, was always trying to understand humor, but never got it.

To reflect her new Starfleet commission and rank, T'Pol's uniform is altered in this episode. Blue science stripes are added to the shoulders and commander's pips are added to the chest.

This episode received the 2005 Emmy nomination for Outstanding Stunt Coordination.

From here on in Enterprise's Captain's Chair is fitted with the same design as they were in the Original Series.
