Terra Nova has not been visited by anyone from Earth in over 70 years.
	The original Terra Nova Expedition took 18 years to reach the planet.
	Early off-world human colonies included New Berlin on the moon, Utopia Planetia on Mars, and several asteroids within Earth's solar system.
	Exposure to less than 800 millirads of radiation should not have any detrimental effects on the human system.

	The radioactivity on the planet was caused by beresium ore within an asteroid which impacted on the planet. The resulting radioactive cloud would have encompassed the planet's northern hemisphere for a year or so.
	The Novans are relocated to the southern hemisphere of the planet which is uncontaminated.
