At the end of the episode, Soong - disillusioned now with the thought of 'perfecting' humans - ponders cybernetics as a viable way to create a perfect being, which of course is a legacy that eventually began both Data and Lore.

A reference to a Governor Klag is made. Klag was the Pagh's Second Officer in the Star Trek The Next Generation episode "A Matter of Honor". This could be an ancestor.

Kahn, his fellow Augments, and their ship are brought up in this episode, but dismissed as a myth by Soong. This was a nice little tie-in to The Original Series.
