Guest star Robert O'Reilly previously appeared as the Klingon leader Gowron in episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Though they have been mentioned earlier this season, this episode marks the first appearance of the Tellarites in speaking roles since The Original Series.
