When we see Trip trying to fix the comm, Malcolm was at the helm and in the background. Cut back to Trip and we see him with a tool in his right hand. Then when we cut back to Malcolm, we can see Trip in the background and he has his right hand to his side and is no longer holding the tool.

Trip says that a dead person's hair and nails continue to grow for a while. This is a common myth—although one would have expected it to be dispelled by that time. Skin and hair do not grow but do appear to due to the desiccation of the skin. When the skin dries and shrivels, it draws back revealing a little bit more of the nails and hair which are already dead and so do not dry out.

If the shuttlepod's energy were cut, then it would keep going due to inertia. It wouldn't just stop dead in space.

When Trip and Reed have their first drink, Trip sculls it, then places it down. It is empty. He then gets the candle out and lights it. He picks up the glass. It has moved positions and is full again.
