"Broken Bow" (the pilot episode) uses an instrumental form of the opening song for it's closing credits. This is different from any other episode.
   
This is the first Star Trek series that does not use a cameo appearance from a previous Trek series. Because this series takes place 100 years before any Star Trek series, Zefram Cochrane (James Cromwell) was used.
   
Vaughn Armstrong appears for the first time in a Star Trek series as a human. (Admiral Maxwell Forrest, Starfleet Commander-in-chief.)
   
Admiral Forest, Commander Williams and Admiral Leonard were named in honor of DeForest Kelley, (Leonard H. McCoy MD) William Shatner (James T. Kirk) and Leonard Nimoy, (Spock) from Star Trek: The Original Series.
   
Archer's first name was originally Jackson, but finding only one person in the country named Jackson Archer, Jonathan was chosen for a name to avoid a liable suit. (there were 20 Jonathan Archers.) Scott Bakula suggested Captain Jonathan Archer's middle name be "Beckett", in reference to his previous character on the television series, Quantum Leap.
   
"Star Trek" was originally left off the title because of its overuse, it was thought that "Enterprise" was just as recognizable.
   
The Enterprise Inspection Pod in is a redesigned section of the Phoenix cockpit - Zefram Cochrane's craft in Star Trek: First Contact.
   
The Enterprise interiors were inspired by a visit to a docked nuclear submarine.
   
The Enterprise bridge set has 80 plasma screens built into it.
   
Dominic Keating was denied a callback for a guest shot on "Star Trek: Voyager" (1995) because Rick Berman wanted him for Enterprise.
   
Lieutenant Malcolm Reed was originally written as a Major in the Starfleet Marine Corps. There were also plans to include Starfleet marines in all away missions. These plans were scrapped. (though eventually reappeared in season three)

Travis Mayweather was originally a lieutenant because of his extensive space experience, but was made an ensign due to the age difference between himself and Reed.
   
Anthony Montgomery was the last actor to read for the role of Travis Mayweather.
   
Most of the sound effects for the Enterprise come from original 1960s Star Trek series - including all the bridge sounds, doors, communicator chirps, and most of the panel sounds.
   
Enterprise has polarized hull plating instead of shields.
   
The crew are introduced to phase pistols during the pilot episode.
   
Approval for transport of bio-matter (humans) has not yet gained full approval.
   
The Enterprise NX-01 (22nd century) bears resemblance to the Akira Class starship, introduced in Star Trek: First Contact.
   
The Enterprise carries a designation of NX-01 indicating it is a "prototype" starship. It also indicates the first Starfleet starship to use this naming convention.
   
Enterprise is the first Starfleet vessel to use the new "Warp 5 Engine" developed by Zefram Cochrane and Jonathan Archer's father, Henry.
   
T'Pol holds the rank of Subcommander. A rank traditionally associated with Romulans.
   
Originally T'Pol was named T'Pau, whose character appears in an episode of Star Trek. This was changed to avoid paying royalties to the writer of the original Star Trek episode in which she appeared each time "T'Pau" was used.
   
The Chief Medical Officer (Doctor Phlox) character's name came from the Hierarchy race from the "Star Trek: Voyager" episode "Tinker, Tenor, Doctor Spy". This name however was merely used in the script.
   
Crewmembers of the US carrier Enterprise, the first ship sent to the Middle East following Sept. 11 2001, have small cameos in Desert Crossing.

Enterprise was the most special effects-laden television show on the network at the time. A reported 2,700 special effects shots occurred in the first season alone. Roughly 300 occurring in the in the two hour "Broken Bow" pilot and an average of 100 per each episode after.
   
The Suliban were named after the Taliban (Creator Rick Berman stated the Suliban were named long before September 2001).
   
Commander Tucker's nickname was originally "Spike". The eventual nickname 'Trip' is short for 'tripple' - Trip is a third generation Charles Tucker. [Tripple T]
   
Two animal actors portray "Porthos" on this series. The two female beagles [though indeed Porthos is a male] are named "Breezy" and "Wendy".
