TREKCORE > ENTERPRISE > CAST AND CREW > Commander Charles Tucker III
NAME: Commander Charles 'Trip' Tucker III RACE: Human POST: Chief Engineer Enterprise NX-01 Commander Charles Tucker III being the 'triple' in the Tucker line of Charles is simply known to his friends as 'Trip.' He is a fun loving soft hearted southern gentleman who likes to be the center of attention, and his fast wit and sense of humor often make him just that. Trip is honest and outspoken to a fault, quite often jumping in before he thinks. He is also forever willing to admit when he is wrong and will go out of his way to make it right again. As a boy Trip Tucker spent much of his time surrounded by family traveling the earth and often refers to the life lessons he was taught in the process. His grandparents were also a big part of his life. He recalls that it was his grandmother who taught him that he should 'never judge a species by their eating habits.' He shared his first glimpse of a Stellar Nursery with his grandfather just outside Anchorage Alaska. His friends were also a large part of his life. He would spend nights camping under the stars with his buddies sharing the wonder of what life would be like beyond their own world. Trip's interest in technology landed him in the middle of an ocean reclamation project in the Florida Keys where he developed skills deep sea diving and working in zero gravity fully dependent on artificial life support. Trip's instinct in technical know-how as well as his hands on no nonsense approach fared well for him at Starfleet Academy where he graduated in 2139. The career in Orbital Engineering that followed earned him a reputation at the Utopia Planetia ship building yard as the 'engineer who thinks anything is possible'. Charlie Tucker was hand picked by his close friend from his days at the NX-01 Project, Jonathan Archer, to join the Enterprise crew in 2151 as Chief Engineer of Earth's first spacecraft equipped with a Warp 5 engine. The Enterprise NX-01. Trip jumped at the chance though he hadn't much experience with planets outside the earth's atmosphere. He now takes great pride in keeping the Enterprise engines 'purrin' like a kitten.' Trip's eagerness for adventure and his willingness to do whatever comes next allows him to fit right in to space travel and first contacts. Even to the point of unwittingly becoming Earth’s first pregnant male. Being Earth's first pregnant male was nothing compared to what Trip encountered when the Xindi weapon destroyed his home state of Florida, taking not only his home but his only sister Elizabeth. His soul was shattered and his mind was focused on paying back those who took her from him. Throughout the search for the Xindi however, Tucker was forced to deal with many manifestations of unresolved emotion. He came to understand that he had not dealt with the death of his sister and allowing his hate to fester was blinding him to the truth. Not all Xindi are bad and not all humans are good.
